In 1968, Mario Giannini founded a small footwear atelier in Montegranaro, in the heart of the Marche region of Italy. In 1973 the Doucal’s dream was born, a dream in which Italian quality and craftsmanship come together with English style and elegance. Doucal’s is passion for the quality of traditional Made in Italy craftsmanship united with the entrepreneurial spirit of the Giannini family, focused on ongoing innovation while respecting the local land and those who inhabit it. Years passed and Jerry and Gianni, Mario’s children, who were captivated by and involved in the Doucal’s dream, accompanied the growth and success of the brand by infusing every product with creativity, manual workmanship and a sense of beauty. Technology is perfectly integrated in the manufacturing process only when and if it’s needed to support the master artisans. By so doing, the energy of the mind, heart and hands is concentrated in the steps which give rise to unique and exclusive products. Every shoe reflects the expertise of the person who created it, choosing the leather, cutting the upper, assembling every part, lasting it, and then adding colour, so that it is finally ready to be worn. It’s an approach that has developed and grown over 50 years of research and constant improvement. From the small workshop of 1973 to today, many things have changed. But one concept has remained unchanged all this time: sustainability, for the land and the people who inhabit it.
